Convento de Santa Ana (Plasensia, Spain), Monjas de.
Madrid: Miguel Gomez, 1718. Small 4to. [11] ff., 492, [5] ff., engr. plt., lacks last leaf with one page post-index text. The Poor Clares of the Convent of Saint Ann in Plasensia, Spain, wrote this account of the founding and subsequent history of their convent, and included biographies of some of the notable Clares who had lived and worked there and to whom miracles and saint-worthy acts were ascribed. (An interesting social or bureaucratic point to note is that while the title-page tells us clearly that the authors of this work are the nuns, the licenses all speak of the convent's chaplain, Juan Jose Saenz de Lescano, as the author — a licensing convenience because of the work's religious nature.)    A handsome, unsigned, engraved plate of "Nuestra Senora de las Siete Dolores" appears after the title-page here; smaller than its leaf, this has been given a typographic border and the embellishment of typographic devices above and below.    Provenance: 18th-century ownership signature of Sor Maria Isabel Josepha ("con lisensia de su Prelada") on p. 1 and also in abbreviated form on title-page; early 19th-century ownership note "De las capuchinas de Mexico de San Felipe de Jesus" on p. 3 and in abbreviated form below the engraving.    Searches of NUC and WorldCat find => no copies in U.S. libraries.         Aguilar Piñal, VII, 2535; Palau 301421. Contemporary vellum over paste boards, lacking the ties; binding a little small and text block loosening from it. Age-toning, occasional light foxing, minor waterstains in some margins. HUGHENS (ou HUYGHENS) (Christian).
Amsterdam, Etienne Roger, 1718. In-12, XXXVI, 276 pp., (12) ff. [cat.
