[Click Below for Full Description]

LE PELLETIER, Jean
Guillaume Behourt, Rouen, 1706. [Click Below for Full Description]

PATERSON, William]
London printed and sold by Ben. Bragg, 1706. 8vo, (16) + 156 + (4)pp, well bound in cloth, gilt lettered on upper cover. A good copy. First edition. 'This extended treatise on the union was written before the meeting of the commissioners to treat of a union, and it therefore took the form of a lengthy conversation, extending over many months, among several friends, on the union and its possible terms. The conversations rambled over almost every possible topic relative to the two countries - from the representation in the new Parliament to the tax on malt. The objective was to prepare the public in Scotland and in England for a union and to clarify points which already were causing confusion. It was a ponderous but at times perceptive work.' [W R & V G McLeod, Anglo-Scottish Tracts, 1701-1714, >1979, p.50]. William Paterson (1658-1719), a founder of the Bank of England, promoter of the Darien scheme, financial adviser to governments and enthusiastic supporter of the Anglo-Scottish Union. [Click Below for Full Description]

Genuina legatura in piena pergamena rigida, con unghie. Titoli manoscritti, lievemente sbiaditi, al dorso a tre nervi. Tagli spruzzati.
