CINELLI CALVOLI Giovanni
Venezia, per Andrea Poletti, All'Italia, 1700; Roma, Francesco de Lazari, 1697; Ferrara, Bernardino Barbieri, 1716. 3 Voll. in-8° piccolo (17 X 11), di pp. 112; pp. (16)+127; pp. 160. D.B.I., XXV/pp. 585-9. Ottino e Fumagalli, n. 605. INTERNET/10496

DAVENANT, Charles]
London: James Knapton 1700 - 8vo., (16) + 204pp., with the 6 folding tables as called for, contemporary mottled calf with an old rebacking, small patches of surface wear to joints, later endpapers. A very good sound copy. Wing D.310. Kress 2216. Goldsmiths 3651. Mattioli 887. First published in 1699, this is perhaps Davenant's most coherent treatise on political arithmetic. His front-rank position in the history of economics is mainly based upon his insight into the importance of quantitative arguments, the use of political arithmetic, and his contributions to the theories of money, international trade and public finance. His failure to produce a coherent theoretical system is reflected by his flirtations with both mercantilism on the one hand and almost a free-trade position on the other. The present work includes much in the area of what might now be called 'applied' economics - population studies, marriage, immigration, family incomes, poverty, home consumption and so forth.

Georg BIURMAN (1700 – 1755). Stockholm, Kongliga Lantmäteri Contoiret 1742. Copper engraving with original colour, 48 x 57 cm (18.9 x 22.0 Inches).
- Detailed map with original colour and title in Swedish shows Västmanland, a historical province, in southern Sweden. The map was made by Georg Biurman (1700 – 1755), a Swedish surveyor and engraver in Stockholm. He became known for his detailed atlases of Stockholm and Sweden. In 1742 Biurman published his famous travel book on Sweden and Finland Vägvisare uti Svea- och Göta Riken samt Stor-Förstendömet Finland. The guide contains two copper engraved maps with detailed positions of roads, inns, cities, and other locations and distances of the main roads between Stockholm and other towns. Although Biurman’s maps were extremely important and progressive, they were commercially unsuccessful and he needed to close his printing shop. After his death in 1755 his maps were re-published by the Swedish cadastral office. The map was published separetely by Kongliga Lantmäteri Contoiret (Royal Institute of Surveyors). The institute started publishing separately issued maps of Sweden in 1739 with a goal to map the country in uniform maps. The first map was the grand "Charta öfwer Mälaren" by Jacob Nordencreutz. The maps Upland, Västmanland, Södermanland, Nerike, Skåne and a map of Sweden were issued in the 1740s and early 1750s. The next map - map of Medelpad – was not published until 1769. It was followed by the series of maps in the next 25 years, the last one being „harta öfver Heinola Höfdingedöme" in 1793. Many parts of the country were not covered. The maps were never sold bound in an atlas since the project was never finished.

Johannes BLAEU (Alkmaar 1571 - Amsterdam 1663)
Bibliografia: Koem … [Click Below for Full Description]

Petersen, Johann Wilhelm.
– Leicht … [Click Below for Full Description]

ONT>8 by 6 - 1700 - Naaman the Syrian is mentioned in the Second Books of Kings chapter 5 in the Tanakh and also mentioned in the New Testament Gospel of Luke 4:27. According to the narrative, he is the commander of the armies of Benhadad II. In the time of Joram, king of Israel. He was afflicted with leprosy; and when the little Hebrew slave-girl that waited on his wife told her of a prophet in Samaria who could cure her master, he obtained a letter from Benhadad and proceeded with it to Joram. The king of Israel suspected in this some evil design against him, and tore his clothes. Elisha the prophet hearing of this, sent for Naaman, and the strange interview which took place is found in 2 Kings 5. He was cured of his leprosy by dipping himself seven times in the Jordan River, according to the word of Elisha. Condition: Disbound. The binding is tight and firm and the pages are all attached. Parts of the spine leather remain. The pages are generally clean with some insect holes through most pages at the right hand corner. Any questions, just ask. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
