Bible. English. Selections. 1693.
Printed by F. Collins for T. Ilive, at the Nags-Head in Jewen-Street, 1693. John Taylor, The Water Poet (1580-1653), composed one of the first "thumb Bibles," a genre that began with John Weever's An Agnus Dei (London, 1601). Taylor's Verbum sempiternum, originally entitled Verbum sempiternae and later corrected to sempiternum, was first printed in 1614. That is a very rare edition: ESTC, WorldCat, and COPAC all locate the sole surviving copy at the University of Aberdeen. This edition is universally recorded as being the second, but there were editions in 1616, 1627, 1631, and 1670, all of which are held in three or fewer libraries, almost universally in Britain. Thus, this is really the earliest edition one can reasonably expect to find. The little work summarizes the Bible in verse form and was designed for children who were not old enough to read the Bible itself. The New Testament has a special title-page with the title "Salvator mundi"; the half-title at the beginning of the volume reads "Bible." => An essential work for the great collector or library of Bibles, children's, or miniature books. Binding: Contemporary black morocco richly gilt on covers and spine. Covers tooled with a center panel created by a flower vine roll; inner-corner devices of strawberries and outer corners with "hash-marked platter," other strawberries used at additional accents. Spine with two raised bands and three spine compartments, each created by a double gilt fillet on all four sides; three gilt circles within rules on each side, and a center gilt flower. Gilt roll on board e … [Click Below for Full Description]

LUPIS Antonio.
Appresso Gio: di Pauli, Venetia, 1693. Cm.12,7x6,6. Pg.242. Legatura in piena pergamena semirigida con titoli manoscritti al dorso. Frontespizio in bordura a doppio filo. Fregi e capilettera incisi. > Minieri Riccio, 185. Opera sconosciuta al Piantanida. 100 gr. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]

Cole William,
[Click Below for Full Description]

[Click Below for Full Description]
