Lancret, Nicolas
Prijs: Euro525,- (incl. lijst, BTW margeregeling).

Fra Noè" [or Noe Bianco].
Bassano del Grappa: Giovanni Antonio Remondini, ca. 1675. Good/Off-island printers in the Venetian Republic were restricted to doing municipal jobs (edicts, bulletins, legal matter), to publishing texts for scholastic and religious use, and to reissuing popular literature such as chivalric romances. These were always printed on cheap paper. For this Voyage from Venice to the Holy Sepulcher and Mount Sinai, Remondini substituted 15th-century travel literature (first published at Bologna in 1500) for the chivalric romance, and enriched the text with scores of fascinating woodblock illustrations (easy to read and easy on the eyes for broad public appeal). The book was a great success, frequently reprinted. Editions published before 1670 bear the publisher's name in its original Venetian form, Remondin. The copy offered here bears the Italianized name Remondini, dating it after 1670, but before 1686 (when dated editions began to appear).(A penciled note on the title dates the edition to 1675.) The decorated paper on the boards could be contemporary, but in that case it would have been acquired from Venice or elsewhere. Remondini did not manufacture decorated woodblock paper until the early 1700s.In all, a strikingly illustrated travelogue of the journey from Venice to Jerusalem, and beyond.. Octavo (15 cm); 192 pages. Title page printed in red and black, with image of three crosses (two black flanking one red that incorporates the Franciscan motto, "Humanity, Patience, Obedience, Poverty"). 156 woodcut illustrations in text, including 5 double-page views. STILLINGFLEET, Edward
Paris: Pierre Rocolet; Damien Foucault, 1675. I am limited to 12 photos on eBay, but I have many more photos on my website...just ask. "I myself have read the writings and teachings of the heretics, polluting my soul for a while with their abominable notions, though deriving this benefit: I was able to refute them for myself and loathe them even more." ― Eusebius, The Church History Many historical accounts of the church have been written since the church began. None, though, seem to be as important or have had as long lasting of an impact as that of Eusebius. Eusebius's 'Church History' is considered the pioneering work on the history of the Church. He details the life of Jesus through Emperor Constantine's military victories (ca. 325 AD). Another notable church history was written by 5th-century historian Socrates Scholasticus. Socrates's 'Historia' covers the period of the church immediately following that of Eusebius, describing the events that would eventually lead to the Council of Chalcedon. These church histories were edited and translated into French by Louis Cousin and published as part of a grand 'History of the Church' consisting of these two accounts as well as others. A rare 1675 first edition published in Paris.

Madrid: Gabriel de Leon / Melchor Sanchez. Published 1675-1676, the 7th edition, large 8vo, 19th century half green morocco, marbled boards, the first part undated but the Fee Del Corrector and Summa de la Tassa are dated late October 1676; the second part, printed by Sanchez, is dated 1675; paginated continuously. (10) 226 (2) 229-438 (10) pp. Originally published 1592-1600, this work, first thought to be authentic and accurate as a history of the Arab conquest of Spain up to AD 721, was later found to be a spurious work of the late 16th century by Miguel de Luna with not much historical accuracy. Very good, some rubbing to joints and light shelfwear, text is a bit tanned and almost entirely free of foxing but for the outermost leaves. OCLC locates 12 copies worldwide, zero in recent auction records. Very Good.

The first book brings the history down to the destruction of Carthage, 146 BC. This later history, especially the period from the death of Caesar, 44 BC, to the death of Augustus, AD 14, is treated in much greater detail. OGILBY, John.
London, c.1675, second state. Coloured. 330 x 445mm. The first sheet of three showing the route from London to Aberystwyth, beginning in the centre of the City, passing through Uxbridge, Beaconsfield and High Wickham, ending at Islip, but with a spur to Oxford. Plate 1 from Ogilby's 'Britannia', the first national road-atlas of any country in Western Europe. It was composed of maps of seventy-three major roads and cross-roads, presented as trompe-l'œil scrolls, each with a decorative title cartouche, this being one of only four featuring the way-wiser. It was the first English atlas on a uniform scale, at one inch to a mile, and the 'mile' Ogilby used became the national standard, the statute mile of 1,760 yards. Ogilby claimed that 26,600 miles of roads were surveyed in the course of preparing the atlas, on foot using the surveyor's wheel depicted in the cartouche, but only about 7,500 were actually depicted in print. It was only after the 'Britannia' that roads started being shown on county maps. Second state, with plate number bottom right.

[Click Below for Full Description]

Bel exemplaire.
