Prijs: € 525,- (incl. lijst, BTW margeregeling).

Manuscript
1675. Seventeenth-Century Italian Manuscript on Censorship and Excommunication [Manuscript]. De Censuris [Spine Title]. [Italy, c.1675]. [500] pp. Quarto (7-1/2" x 5-1/2"). Contemporary limp vellum with thong ties, early calligraphic title to spine. Moderate soiling and a few minor stains, two thongs lacking, vellum just beginning to crack through pastedowns. Light toning to text, occasional light foxing. Text in fine neat hand to rectos and versos of most leaves, notes to margins of first 80 leaves in later hand. * This canon-law manuscript on censure (censura), excommunication (scomunica), suspension (sospensione) and irregularities (irregolarita) was probably compiled around 1675. The careful organization and absence of corrections suggests this is probably a fair copy of university lecture notes. The marginalia indicates its later use by another reader.

Artist: Guillaume De L«isle (- 1726) Paris; Issued in: Paris; date: 1714 1675 - Artist: Guillaume De L«isle (1675- 1726) Paris; Issued in: Paris; date: 1714; - Condition: Very good; map of the eastern hemisphere.Guillaume De L«isle (1675- 1726 in Paris), was a French cartographer known for his popular and accurate maps of Europe and the newly explored Americas and Africa.t 27, Delisle was admitted into the French AcadŽmie Royale des Sciences, an institution financed by the French state. After that date, he signed his maps with the title of ÒGŽographe de lÕAcadŽmieÓ. Five years later, he moved to the Quai de lÕHorloge in Paris, a true publishing hub where his business prospered. DelisleÕs ascension through the ranks culminated in 1718 when he received the title of Premier GŽographe du Roi. His new office consisted in teaching geography to the Dauphin, King Louis XIVÕs son, a task for which he received a salary. Again, Claude De LisleÕs reputation as a man of science probably helped Guillaume. This supports the claim of the historian Mary Sponberg Pedley, who says Òonce authority was established, a geographerÕs name might retain enough value to support two or three generations of mapmakersÓ. In DelisleÕs case, it could be said that his accomplishments surpassed his fatherÕs. Up to that point, he had drawn maps not only of European countries, such as Italy, Spain, Germany, Great Britain, Poland, and regions such as the Duchy of Burgundy, but he had also contributed to the empireÕs claims to recently explored continents of Africa and the Americas.Like many c … [Click Below for Full Description]

DE JONGHE, CLEMENDT.
Amsterdam, 1675 circa. [Click Below for Full Description]

(The Colony of New Sweden - Nilsson Papers)
1675. 40 items, 47 pages, various sizes ranging from small sheets to folio, in Dutch, both High and Low, Swedish and English, the documents have various condition issues, damp-stains, old tape stains, soiling, tears and loss, associated with over three hundred years of neglect, but they are generally legible. The collection of documents and papers, offered here, pertain to the earliest European settlers on the Delaware River – the colony of New Sweden, and one family of settlers in particular, the Nilsson family- Jonas Nilsson and his children. These settlers Swedes, Finns and Dutch constituted the majority of the population on the South River (as they called the Delaware) before the Quaker "invasion" that began with John Fenwick's group in 1675 and culminated with William Penn's 23 ships in 1681-1682. The bulk of the papers in this collection date from two periods when the colony was in transition: first, from Swedish to Dutch control, and, then from Dutch to English control. Paper and documents from New Sweden are exceedingly rare many of the records generated by the colony simply did not survive. Most of the materials which did survive have been housed in institutions for generations, if not centuries. Collections such as this one, essentially the three hundred plus year old Nilsson family papers, simply do not appear in the market. The collection contains the signatures and marks of many "ancient Swedes." The collection contains a document bearing what is only the second known signature of one of them: "Laurentius Caroli, Lutheran minister", Pastor Lars Carlsson Lock. … [Click Below for Full Description]
