« This is an early account of Athens claiming to be based on personl knowledge communicated by Guillet by his brother George who was in fact supllied by Giraud, the French Conseul in Athens, while the plan of Athens is based on that made by the Capuchin monks settled there». Malgré les critiques de Spon, l'ouvrage a toujours été estimé, surtout grâce aux renseignements fourni par Giraud : « Certainly Guillet's account did contain information on the contemporary state of the city and he very much emphasized the need to compare the ancient and the modern cultures ».
