Comines, Philippe De Seigneur D'Argenton & Godefroy, Denys [Editor]
for John Starkey at the Miter in Fleet Street within Temple Bar, 1674, 1st edition thus. Later half morocco, VG. [xxiv]+611pp+4pp publishers catalogue, engraved frontis, stoutly rebound in mid Victorian half morocco, the binder has shaved the top margin close with slight loss to the running title to some pages, a nice copy. Hardback , no dustjacket. ¶ Popular memoirs, of immense importance, largely because of Comines' cynical and forthright attitude to the events and machinations he decribes. His writings reveal many of the less savory aspects of the reign of Louis XI, and Commines related them without apology, insisting that the late king's virtues outweighed his vices. He is regarded as a major primary source for 15th century European history. Philippe de Commines [ 1447 - 1511 ], writer and diplomat at the courts of Burgundy & France. Denis Godefroy [ 1615 - 1681 ], historian who specialised in the Hundred Years War and the reigns of Charles VII of France, Charles VIII of France & Joan of Arc. STC C5543.

Romanus, Alexander
[Click Below for Full Description]

LOCCENIUS, Johannes.
Stockholm, Henr[ici Keysers], 1674. 8:o. 186 s. Frampärmen med förgyllda initialerna "J.A."

Philipp Heinrich GOFFART VON
Originale.Cahiers Edition sewn together. The first book is posted. Brunies.L'ouvrage pages is a thesis from the University of Jena in the kingdom of Arles under the patronage of Johannes Strauch, professor and advisor in various universities in Germany. The Kingdom of Arles is actually the kingdom of Burgundy, and was named by writers who were dazzled by the ancient city and wanted to give a Roman ancestry Burgundy. Research, very erudite, is particularly interested in the origins of Burgundy. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate. Luis de Granada.
Por Antonio Lacavalleria, 1674. Written while in self-imposed exile in Portugal, following the Spanish Inquisition's persecution of writers on "the inner life," Luis de Granada (O.P., 1504-88) published the first edition of this Memorial in Lisbon in 1565. Divided into two parts, its first is dedicated to the doctrine of leading a good life and the second contains the "adiciones" first published in 1574, composed of three treatises on the exercise of devotion and the love of God with considerable discussion of inner prayer vs. vocal prayer. Notably, the author is drawn to and delineates the beauties and efficacy of the former, and celebrates the importance of individual, private, inward contemplation. Title-page printed in black and red with a large woodcut of the royal coat of arms. The main text is printed in dense double-column format in roman type with some italic and embellished with typographic headpieces, large tailpieces, and a scattering of woodcut initials. Provenance: 19th-century purple stamp of private Mexican collector Jose M. Martinez (on front free endpaper and on binding). => We fail to locate any copy of this edition in the U.S. libraries.
