Pierre MARIETTE (Parigi 1602 - 1658)
Carta molot rara." "A fine example fo this VERY RARE map of America, a pirate copy of the Jodocus Hondius map (1618). ""This particular map falls into the seires derived form the Jodocus Hondius of America, 1618, In this case it is a closer to the version by Joannes Janssonius, 1623. Like some of the others this has not imprint which makes it difficoult to assign. It is not recorde in Tooley's ""Sequence of Maps of America"", or the more detailed article by Loeb-Larocque on the French derivates of Dutch maps. The map of Africa with the same distinctive cartouche is recorded in Tooley's Maps of the African Continet, but is likewise listed as anonymus. However, on two occasions the author has noted the ma … [Click Below for Full Description]

FREART, Roland, Sieur de Chambray (1606-76). -
Paris, Martin, 1650. In-folio (35,2 x 23,7 cm.). Comolli IV, pp.187-197. Berlin Kat. 2374. Fowler 127: "A beautifully printed and designed volume." Rare first edition of an important work. "The Parallèle is not simply a compilation of examples derived from earlier works - it is a statement of a new point of view. It is the first architectural treatise of the seventeenth century to propose a fresh look at earlier architectural treatises..." (Dora Wiebenson, Millard Architectural Collection, I, 76).
