Dreißigjähriger Krieg]. - Wrangel, Carl Gustav, Schwedischer Feldherr (1613-1676).
"Haubtquartier Blankenhayn", 22. II. 1646. - 2 SS. auf Doppelblatt. Folio.

PRYNNE, William
London: printed by T.B. for Michael Sparke at the signe of the Blew-Bible in Green Arbour 1646 - 4to., title printed within a border of typographical ornaments, (4) + 41 + (1)pp., with errata at foot of final page of text, dedication leaf just slightly cropped at foot with partial loss of letters, catchword cropped on leaf F1, first and last leaves with some minor staining, in 19th century black half calf over marbled boards, spine lettered in gilt, a little wear to extremities but still a good, crisp, copy in a sound binding. First edition. Wing P.4097. An arcane debate about excommunication and whether it was lawfully possible (so far as Church jurisdiction was concerned) to excommunicate without at the same time barring those so suspended from other 'publick Ordinances' such as 'prayer, preaching, reading, fasting, catechising, singing of psalmes, baptizing of infants, &c.'. Prynne thought that such unilateral suspension was not a 'divine institution'. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]

Van Noort, Olivier
Commelin edition of Van Noort´s maps of Northern and Southern South America; individually rare, together they form one of the rarest and most primitive maps of South America. The maps were published in Commelin's very rare collection of voyages "Begin ende voortgangh van de Vereenighde Nederlantsche Geoctroyeerde Oost-Indische Compagnie"; they show most of South America, with only missing the regions which are today Venezuela and Colombia, the lower portion includes Magellan Strait, Chile and Argentina, a prominent River Plate and a notoriously imaginary river in the Patagonia, the Strait of Magellan is wide and the coast line shows Van Noort's fleet -with the route followed by Van Noort, from his landing in Rio de Janeiro to his journey across Patagonia and the Pacific- before and after crossing it; on both sides, there are compass roses. The north part shows mostly the Brazilian coastline as well as the Pacific coast (North of Chile, Peru and South Colombia), it also shows the fleet and compass roses on both sides. Van Noort (1558 - 1627) was a Dutch sailor and explorer, and the first Dutch to circumnavigate the world; going through Brazil, Argentina, Chili, Peru and several countries in Oceania. In the process, he was able to capture several Spanish ships, although, at the end, of 4, only one ship made it back to Rotterdam. The VOC was formed short after. His account is one of the first Dutch relations on South America. "His ship was the fourth to circumnavigate the world and he was the first Dutch-man to do so. He attempted to enter Guanabara Bay in Rio but was repulsed … [Click Below for Full Description]

2100 gr.
