ROSSETTI, Donato.
1633. BMC STC Italian, p. 796; Poggendorff II, col. 700; Riccardi I, R-col. 394; Thorndike VII, p. 583; not in Honeyman. Rare first edition of a handbook of physics, including optics, mechanics, fluid dynamics and cosmography, illustrated with numerous woodcut diagrams and other illustrations in the text. It was written by Donato Rossetti, professor of natural philosophy at Pisa, in the wake of Galileo's 1633 trial for promoting the heliocentric theory of the solar system. Rossetti later became tutor in mathematics to the Duke of Savoy and professor of mathematics at Turin. The book is a refutation of Geminiano Montanari's Pensieri fisico-matematici (Bologna 1667). In the period shortly after Galileo, experimentalists like Montanari (1633-1675) engaged in a battle against the more mystical views of scientists such as Rossetti. With an early Italian owner's inscription on the title-page. In very good condition, with only a couple small marginal holes in the title-page. The parchment has a couple stains and a couple holes in the spine, but is otherwise very good. Circa 1633. . - . . . 1 Vol. . Portada + 160 pp. pp. Folio Menor. .

Etienne PASQUIER
Chez Martin Collet. New edition, reprint of the first edition in ten books published in 1621; illustrated with a portrait by Leonardo Gautier and a large sticker with the royal arms. Title page in red and black. Printing on thin paper. Half time level. Back tooled raised. Part of title in red morocco. Head cap threadbare. Upper joint split in mind. Friction on the boards. Corners bumped. Encyclopedic work and very famous, France's research differ among all works of this kind by its radical novelty. Pasquier can be considered the father of modern history, the nascent history as a discipline and then away from the legend and literature. Chapter VII, very different from the others because those are attached to research on ancient France, s' interested in the formation of the French language; part is devoted to the Pleiades, which Pasquier was a member. Chapter VI was already involved in the origin of French poetry. "High antiques single Monument, the seArches paper have by their variety and boldness, all that could claim a scholar of the sixteenth century." Garcilaso de la VEGA
First French translation by Jean Baudoin from the original in Spanish published in 1609 in Lisbon. This translation only concerns the first part of the royal Comment, the second apparently never been translated. The frontispiece is in the upper Peruvian city, probably Cuzco, which is represented in a procession celebrating the various forces of nature. In the lower part, two designated Incas Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo frame the title and overcome two thumbnails representing one side of the jewels and the other a caravel. The board is usually signed ML (here L. was cleared) for Michel Lasne, French engraver and draftsman who was particular student of Rubens.Bound in full vellum, back three nerves decorated the head of a title manuscript pen, corners very lightly bumped. Waterstains small head and tail of the padding on the entire structure, gallery to between 867-977 pages 1269-1286 and slightly affecting places numbering notebooks but not the text. The frontispiece of the text summarizes the issues by showing the richness of a land conquered by the Spanish while highlighting the outstanding figures of Peruvian history. Indeed, the man left, Manco Capac is traditionally considered the first emperor of the Incas in Cuzco; Mama Ocllo would, in turn, his wife. By placing the head of his work both mythical figures of the founding of the Inca civilization, Garcilaso de la Vega (1539-1616) affirms its willingness to go back to the almost mythological origins of the Peruvian people. Itself illegitimate child of a conquistador and an Inca princess after the line Capac, raised in two … [Click Below for Full Description]

VEGA Garcilaso de la
- Chez Augustin Courbé, à Paris 1633, in-4 (16x23cm), (2f.) (44p.) 1319pp. (32p.) [Click Below for Full Description]

Christoffel JEGHER (Anversa 1596 - 1652/53)
1633. Xilografia, 1633, firmata in lastra in basso a destra. Woodcut, 1633, signed at lower right. The Coronation of the Virgin; the Virgin is crowned by God the Father holding an orb and a sceptre, Christ at right, the Holy Spirit hovering above; on clouds view da sotto in su; after Peter Paul Rubens. A good impression of the second state, published by Rubens himself, with margins, showing trace of central fold, generally in good conditions. After the painting by Rubens (described under Rooses 364); formerly in the Jesuits' Church in Antwerp. A modello by Rubens is in the Musée du Louvre, Paris, inv.no.2123. Le Blanc 8, Hollstein 10; Bodart, Rubens e l'incisione 153. 440 330
