1588. Dal "Civitates Orbis Terrarum", Colonia, 1588 circa. Incisione in rame, colore d'epoca, cm 33,3 x 50,2 (alla lastra) più margini; titolo in basso a sinistra, posto entro riquadro, stemma della città in alto a destra, due figure in basso a destra; testo latino al verso. George Braun (1541 - 1622), chierico di Colonia, è stato il principale curatore del "Civitates Orbis Terrarum", per la prima volta pubblicato a Colonia nel 1572, poi edito ad Anversa e a Colonia fino al 1618, anno in cui apparve il sesto e ultimo volume. Queste le principali edizioni: 1572, vol. I; 1575, vol. II; 1581 vol. III; 1588 ca. vol. IV; 1598 ca. vol. V; 1618 vol. VI. Questi volumi vennero pubblicati originariamente in latino, e poi ristampati in tedesco e in francese. Il volume VI comprendeva un'edizione di piante supplementari. Questa pianta di Bologna si trova nel quarto dei sei volumi dell'opera (Bibliografia: R. V. Tooley, "Dictionary of Mapmakers", 1979, pp.79 e 305; G. B. Contemporary full vellum; binding dust marked and darkened, corners bumped, but sound. Titled in ink in an early hand to spine. Some foxing and browning within, endpapers dust marked but overall good. Being parts 3 and 5 of the five parts issued by Gilles simultaneously and sold either separately or as a collection. What appears to be a brown stain on the left hand margin of the title in the photograph is actually just a shadow.

Rare édition barcelonaise de cet ouvrage du dominicain espagnol Luis de Granada (1505-1588), initialement publié en 1561 à Lisbonne. "L'influence des écrits de Louis de Grenade est encore très mal connue, mais il est hors de doute qu'elle fut durable. Très apprécié par saint Charles Borromée, sainte Thérèse d'Avila et Saint Pierre d'Alcantara, ses contemporains, il fut l'une des principales sources d'inspiration de Saint François de Sales" (Laffont Bompiani). Le présent texte fut notamment l'un de ceux édités en chinois aux Philipines au début du 17e siècle par les missionnaires espagnols. Belle marque de l'imprimeur Jaume Cendrat sur le titre et au verso du dernier feuillet. Titre en rouge et noir. Réparation ancienne dans le blanc du titre où une fenêtre avait été découpée. In the 1630s he formed a partnership with his brother in law Henricus Hondius, and together they published atlases as Mercator/Hondius/Janssonius.Under the leadership of Janssonius the Hondius Atlas was steadily enlarged. Renamed Atlas Novus, it had three volumes in 1638, one fully dedicated to Italy. 1646 a fourth volume came out with English County Maps, a year after a similar issue by Willem Blaeu. Janssonius' maps are similar to those of Blaeu, and he is often accused of copying from his rival, but many of his maps predate those of Blaeu and/or covered different regions. I.B.Hugolinum, 1588. Opera dedicata a Giorgio Gradonico. Testo latino. Cm.15,1x9,8. Pg.(16), 552 numerate solo al recto. Legatura in piena pergamena rigida. Esemplare con buoni margini, solo minimi forellini all'ultima carta. Pietro Crisologo nacque a Imola attorno all'anno 406. Fu diacono nella città - natale e nel 433 venne consacrato da Papa Sisto III Arcivescovo di Ravenna. Di lui ci sono pervenuti circa 180 sermoni. Morì attorno al 450. "Nel 433 venne consacrato vescovo di Ravenna, dal Papa in persona, Sisto III. Il soprannome di Pietro è «Chrysologus», che significa «dalle parole d'oro». Ravenna ai tempi di Pietro è una città crocevia di problemi e di incontri. Dall'Oriente lo consulta l' archimandrita Eutiche, in conflitto dottrinale col patriarca di Costantinopoli e con gran parte del clero circa le due nature in Gesù Cristo. Nella sua vita c'è un momento ovviamente importantissimo per lui: quello della consacrazione a vescovo di Ravenna, intorno al 433. Ma è importante pure tutto ciò che circonda l'evento. Innanzitutto c'è il papa in persona a consacrarlo: Sisto III, cioè l'uomo della pace religiosa dopo dissidi, scontri e iniziative scismatiche, ispirate alle dottrine di Nestorio. Segno perenne di questa pace, il rifacimento della Basilica liberiana sull'Esquilino, dedicata alla Madre di Dio (Santa Maria Maggiore). A Rouen, De l'Imprimerie de Martin le Mesgissier, Imprimeur ordinaire du Roy, 1588. - In-12 de 12 pages y compris le titre gravé de la marque de l'imprimeur de forme ovale, représentant un mégissier occupé à des travaux de son état, au dessus de lui est écrite la légende "De bien en mieulx" et au dessous le nom de l'imprimeur ainsi orthographié: M.Lemegvisser". Dans le listel qui entoure cette marque, on lit la devise encourageante que voici : "par art et labevr l'home sage faict tout venir à son usage". Exemplaire en feuilles, les deux cahiers sont retenus d'origine par une très fine ficelle. Excellent état pour cette pièce rare. Requête auprès du Roy pour soulager les misères du peuple qui ploie sous l'insupportable fardeau de la taille et autres taxes.
