Later 20th-century dark green crushed morocco, gilt lettered spine decorated with theatrical motifs, gilt stamp of the mask of tragedy on front cover, top edges gilt, untrimmed, richly gilt turn-ins, marbled endpapers. Colour frontispiece and 29 mounted colour plates (with captioned tissue guards), head and tail-pieces by W. G. Simmonds; title page printed in red & black. Embossed library stamp of "LBJ" on front and rear endpapers. An excellent copy. A handsomely bound copy of this attractively illustrated edition. William G. Simmonds (1876-1968), who studied under Walter Crane at the RCA, later assisted with tank and aircraft design during the Great War. The introduction is by Arthur Quiller-Couch.
