John F Kennedy inscribes a copy of his book, Profiles in Courage , to pioneering columnist and reporter, Irene Kuhn

"His signature and inscription, ""To Irene Kuhn with very best wishes John Kennedy,"" most likely as Senator, on the front blank endpaper of his book, Profiles in Courage (New York: Harper & Brothers, 1956) xix, 266pp., 8vo, bound in blue cloth boards with black titled spine with dust jacket. Some fraying to top spine, front pastedown and endpaper unevenly toned, some tears and losses to dust jacket, especially along spine, pages clean overall. Irene Kuhn (1898-1995) was a pioneering female journalist, broadcaster, and columnist. Following her studies at Marymount College and Columbia University, the New York native worked as a Paris correspondent for the Chicago Tribune, and in 1922 moved to China to work as a reporter for the English-language Shanghai Evening Post and subsequently for the International News Service in Honolulu. In 1926, she returned to New York, where she did feature writing for The Daily News and then as a staff reporter for The Honolulu Star-Bulletin. In 1939, she joined the National Broadcasting Company, where she worked in various capacities until 1950. Kuhn also worked as a syndicated columnist for King Features Syndicate (1953-1969) and contributed reminisces to Gourmet magazine in the 1970s and 1980s. "
