London: Hodder and Stoughton Limited, 1912., 1912. 'BEST EDITION' OF PETER PAN. Quarto, pp. 6; 127. Bound in publisher's gilt decorated green cloth featuring four birds at head of board, and children linking arms at lower end of board. Author/illustrator/title blocked in gilt to front board and spine, additional tooling to spine, blank endpapers. Gilt remains exceptionally bright on boards and spine, boards in excellent condition with some minor edgewear, corners rubbed, several minor marks and one short scratch to rear board. Spine faded to a paler green, endcaps pushed. Textblock fairly clean excepting some spotting toward first and final few leaves. 50 beautiful illustrated plates by beloved artist Arthur Rackham. An excellent copy of the 1912 illustrated edition of Barrie's children's classic, which is considered the best copy of the text.
