May have been originally published in 1959 in Beijing by the People's Fine Arts Publishing House. From the 8-volume series, Chinese Paintings Throughout History: The Palace Museum Collection. Complete in two volumes, Ming Dynasty Chinese painting and calligraphy. Printed and bound in China. Olive-drab cloth hardboard bindings, with crisp blind-stamped lettering to the front boards and with crisp gilt-stamped lettering to the spines. Unbumped spine heads and tails, with sharp corners. Large folio, 15 x 13 inches. Text blocks firmly bound in. Attractive patterned pastedowns and FEPs. Vol. V with 172 and 20 numbered pages. With numerous full-color, full-page plates. Vol. VI with 145 and 29 numbered pages and with numerous full-color, full-page plates. Immensely clean volumes, inside and out, and quite tight. Almost certainly unread. A Fine set of volumes in Fine dust jackets in Fine slipcases in Near Fine shipping boxes. Very scarce in any condition. A very large and heavy set of volumes.
