Publisher's brown printed boards. The 103 poems that form this early collection earned Sandburg the Pulitzer Prize in Poetry for 1919. Carl August Sandburg (1878-1967) was an American writer and editor best known for poetry. He won three Pulitzer Prizes, two for his poetry and one for his biography of Abraham Lincoln. H. L.
