Ceramic Art in Remote Ages; with Essays on the Symbols of The Circle, The Cross and Circle, The Circle and Ray Ornament, The Fylfot and The Serpent, showing their relation to the primitive forms of Solar and Nature Worship.
John B. Day, Savoy Street, London 1874 - In fair to good condition. The book has been affected by damp conditions at some point and, together with foxing, there are also grey spots to some pages from previous mold / damp exposure (not extensive other than to the title page and facing page - see photos). There are blind embossed oval library stamps to a number of plates and a few pages at the top edge. A couple of pages have had repairs to short tears in the margins (done by a previous owner but looks like an acid-free tissue repair). Despite the flaws, still a reasonably good reference volume of this scarce work. Ex-public reference library with bookplate on the front pastedown, shelf mark classification written at the top edge of the front endpaper. Bound in sturdy black cloth library binding. Some pale marks to the rear board. Please see photos attached to the listing and contact us if you would like to see more images. pp. ii, 124, [2], [+ plates, all present and correct].
