These deal with clothes, accessories & interiors throughout various countries and times. Also military clothing & equipment, modes of transport, eccelsiastical items. Includes a glossary, general introduction, explanations of the plates etc. This is an extensive, well illustrated & fascinating set. All volumes uniformly bound in dark blue cloth with gilt titles on spine. Upper edge gilt. Vol. I general introduction, xliii + 288pp & 38 tables. The other 5 volumes contain the plates (1-500) & descriptions. Areas, peoples & contries include ancient Egypt, Greece, the Romans, the Celts, Oceania, Australia, Malaysia, Micronesia, Polynesia, Africa, Brasil, Paraguay, China, Japan, India, Persia, Byzantium, Abyssinia, Europe, Italy, France, England, Spain, Holland, Scotland, Russia, Turkey, etc. Ex reference library with number on spine & on reverse of title page, single stamp on front endpaper, blind stamp on title page. No other obvious library markings, inner books are generally clean and in very good + condition, occasional marks/chipping comensurate with age.
