Limited to 1,000 copies, printed in 4 colours plus metallic gold, with light-fast ink, on simulated vellum, mounted on a canvas backing and supported by two English Oak battens with a brass ring for hanging. Map measures: 56 inches by 47.25 inches. Presented in a large wooden map box (51 inches by 5.5 inches), covered with burgundy cloth and lined with fabric finished with brass hinges and clasps, blocked in gold. Accompanied by two commentary volumes with an introduction by P. D. A. Harvey and a commentary by Scott D. Westrem, bound in buckram, blocked in gold foil with Merida endpapers and ribbon marker. First volume 112 pages with illustrations, 11 inches x 8.5 inches; second volume bound in buckram, blocked in gold foil with Merida endpapers and 2 ribbon markers, 536 pages with 16 pages of colour and black & white illustrations, 11 inches x 8.5 inches. The Hereford Mappa Mundi is the largest and finest Mappa Mundi in existence and is a stunning example of the craftsmanship in England produced in around AD 1300. Copy No. 165. [S]
