Copy belonging to studio secretary Marion Pecht, with her notations in holograph pencil throughout, noting revisions to dialogue and direction, and her name on several pages. Based on Rex Beach's 1906 novel, about a miner in Alaska named Roy Glennister (Wayne) and his partner Al Dextry (Carey). The two are financed by saloon entertainer Cherry Malotte (Dietrich), and fight to save their gold claim from crooked commissioner Alexander McNamara (Scott). Poet Robert W. Service makes a cameo and recites some of his poetry. Arguably the most successful, most known of the five screen versions of Beach's Klondike western. Nominated for an Academy Award (Best Art Direction). Set in Alaska in the 1890s. Gray studio wrappers, noted in holograph ink as copy No. 123, rubber-stamped production No. 7009, dated January 9,1942, with credits for screenwriters Hazard and Reed. 123 leaves, mimeograph, with blue revision pages throughout, dated variously between 1/16/42 and 2/6/42.
