Bound from the original parts in attractive recent half dark brown calf over original cloth sides, marbled endpapers, all edges marbled. Armorial bookplate of Lister to pastedown with his ownership inscription to first blank, Some browning to prelims and plates as usual, text relatively clean, boards with some age-related marking. With First Issue text points present;"William" for "Frederick", p.317, line 27, p.371 signature noted as B2 not BB2, error on page 469 "Rigaud for Blandois". A presentable copy. Dickens' great satire on the shortcomings of Victorian government and society, focusing upon the institution of debtor's prisons, represented her by Marshalsea Gaol, where the author's own father had been imprisoned.
