Birn Brothers (London) circa 1935 - ORIGINAL CHILDREN'S BOOK ART Circa 1935. "GEISHA GIRLS" MEDIUM - GOUACHE ON DRAWING BOARD. ARTIST - UNKNOWN DATE - circa 1935. The artwork measures 4 1/4" x 6" on a 7 3/8" x 8" illustration board. A very attractive, bright original gouache painting that was used for a British Girl's Annual entitled PAMELA'S PET featuring three young girls dressed as geishas and a menacing looking man. A wonderful image! The watercolour is by an unidentified British artist. There is the rubber-stamped name of the well known publishers, the Birn Brothers, on the reverse of the artwork with "Pamela's Pet -A fright for three" and the number 6 penciled in blue. This is the original artwork for a short story by Bertha Leonard in the book entitled PAMELA'S PET published by Birn Brothers, undated but circa 1935, a charming collection of 9 Adventure short stories aimed at young girls. CONDITION: The watercolour in bright Fine condition has a mat and is ready to frame. A copy of the original book PAMELA’S PET 1935 BIRN BROTHERS BOOK (see 2nd scan) is included.
