The Moon Is Down (Original mini window card poster for the 1943 film)
Los Angeles: Twentieth Century-Fox, 1943. Original mini window card for the 1943 film. Based on John Steinbeck's 1942 novel. German troops invade Norway during WWII, and occupy a small town. Col. Lanser (Hardwicke) is the officer in charge of the occupation, believes in peace over brutality to achieve success, and he tries to persuade the townspeople to work with him. Soon, an anti-Nazi resistance force is formed, and begin sabotaging German camps and killing their officers. The town's mayor (Travers) refuses to assist Lanser in any way, and eventually Lanser is forced to respond by issuing arrests and executions. Natalie Wood, who was 5 at the time, makes a cameo as a village child in her first film credit. Set in Norway, shot on location in California. 8 x 11.5 inches (20 x 29 cm). Very Good plus on thick stock, with edge creases, a faint bruise, and a notation in holograph pencil on the verso.
