Light browning, light foxing in a few places, internally clean. $300. * Only edition, one of two issues from 1799, the other published in Charleston. Pinckney was a prominent delegate to the Federal Constitutional Convention and later U.S. Senator from South Carolina and minister to Spain. This pamphlet reprints a series of three articles in a Charleston newspaper. The first letter discusses constitutional issues raised in the case of Jonathan Robbins, an American seaman who was handed over to the British courts to face a charge of mutiny. The second letter deals with the seizure of American ships by British Cruisers. The third letter concerns the settlement of claims between the United States and Great Britain.
