London: I: Walsh... Ioseph Hare. [ca. 1730]. Folio. Half maroon leather with navy blue pebbled cloth, gilt rules and titling to spine. 1f. (title), [i] (blank), 24, [i] (blank) pp. Engraved. Signature of "T.W. Taphouse, Oxford" to upper pastedown and verso of front free endpaper. Binding worn and slightly bumped; spine chipped with some loss. Some browning, foxing, and bleeding. . First edition in this form. Very rare, apparently a unicum. Not in RISM. Smith p. 310 (no. 22 lists the present copy, sold at Sotheby's on July 3-4, 1905) and two references to catalogues of Messrs. Ellis (no. vii, 1905, and xii, 1910). Thomas William Taphouse (1838-1905) formed one of the most important antiquarian music collections of the 19th century.
