London: Bradbury and Evans, 1853., 1853. First Edition, First Issue, bound from parts. Octavo. Bound in contemporary half brown morocco over marbled paper with triple gilt ruling to morocco; raised bands, gilt tooling and gilt titles to spine; marbled end papers, top and front edges marbled. With numerous illustrations by Phiz. Binding is rubbed, including joints, edges and boards worn, bumping to corners. Text is fairly clean, though plates are foxed and frequently this bleeds through to surrounding leaves. A first edition of one of Dickens' most important novels.
