The Violins of Saint-Jacques. A Tale of the Antilles. (WITH SIGNED BOOKPLATE)
John Murray and Derek Verschoyle, London, 1953. First Edition, first printing of the author's uncommon second book and only novel. This copy from the library of noted book collector J.E. 'One-armed Jack' Davies with his personal bookplate which has been SIGNED by Patrick Leigh Fermor pasted to the half-title. 8vo. 139pp. Green cloth lettered in gold at spine. Map-illustrated endpapers and five unaccredited decorations in the text (apparently by Robin Ironside, who also provides the dust wrapper design). Extremities of backstrip lightly discoloured and with some crinkling to the half-title, caused by the bookplate glue. Very good indeed and housed in the handsome double-spread pictorial dust wrapper, nicked at spine ends and tips of several corners with several small portions of loss. An uncommon book, very desirable even without the signature.. Signed by Author(s). 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Good.
