Boston: Little, Brown and Company, 1967. First Edition. Hardcover. 344pp. Black cloth stamped in red on the spine panel. Signed and inscribed by Braly on the front free endpaper in the year of publication: "Christmas / 1967 / To Mordecai / All fortune among the Phillistines. (sic) / Malcolm." Upper corner of text block and lower corner of rear board slightly bruised. A very good+ copy in good+ dustjacket with chipping along the edges, two larger chips and toning to the spine panel and rear panel, front flap partially split at fold. A sobering account of prison life in San Quentin in the early 1960s. Considered by Kurt Vonnegut to be "the great American prison novel". In Hubin, 1994, p. 96. ; Octavo; Signed by Author.
