PETER KURTEN. A Study in Sadism
The Acorn Press 1938 - Hardback. 'Criminal history can show no figure so sinister and terrible as that of Peter Kurten, the so-called "Dusseldorf Monster." Kurten was found guilty of 9 murders, but the total of his murders, attempted murders, and arsons - given in the Appendix of this book - comes nearer 100. Kurten the great abnormal, was examined by no less than 4 psychiatrists and found to be sane; and, being convicted, was duly executed. But before, during and after trial, Kurten was in the hands of Prof. Karl Berg, and it is largely on the data of that exponent of forensic medicine that the author, a lawyer, has drawn for his facts : his conclusions however, are his own.' This sketch of one of the great abnormals was originally intended to serve as an Introduction to the English version of Berg's 'Der Sadist', but became too long for its original purpose. It was therefore decided to print it as a small book, rather than part of Berg's larger one, which was in preparation at the time this one was published. With Bibliog. 59pp. small 8vo. From the library of true crime writer, Wilfred Gregg, with his personal b/plate. Black cloth/gilt lettering to sp. Nr. F. in very scarce sunned vg. dw. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
