Tokyo, Japan: Kyushundo, 1887?. First Edition. Paperback. Very Good. Possibly 1887. Title page illustrated in color. Subtitle from title page verso, stated also is "Copy-right Edition, No. 5 First cho Sanjikkenbori." With beautiful, finely colored woodcut images plus black ink illustrations. Green wrappers, sewn binding under brown paper tape, lightly chipped at top, but intact. 8vo., 63pp. Covers show creases but pages are smooth. Pages folded in the Japanese style. Back cover has a 4"x1.25" paste-on ivory paper with text in Japanese. Endpaper in front has separated from cover but is still firmly bound in the volume, despite missing top stab-stich at several pages. Opens with advertisement in English. Text is presented in English as well as in Chinese and Japanese characters. Sections: Cherry Trees on Ueno; The Tori No Ichi (Cock Market); Shiratsuyu of the Inamoto Ro; Murasaki of the Kozen Ro; Moonlight Night at Shimbashi; The Hibiya Parade Ground, and many more.
