C. Davis, London, 1736. Small 8vo. pp xiv, 294. First edition thus (reprinted from 1558 edition). Bound by J.Mackenzie in full leather, spine gilt lined in six compartments with gilt title and date. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers and gilt fleuron turn ins. Binding signed with black in stamp on verso of ffep.Pencil note that the book had been previously sold by the Seven Gables Bookshop circa 1960. This uncommon little volume is in lovely condition . Some toning to page edges and a repaired tear to the margin of p217, but generally crisp and clean.
