A Handbook for Posterity or Recollections of 'Twiddle Twaddle". A series of sixty-two "Etchings on Glass" with Descriptive Notes
London: W. T. Spencer, 1896. An endearing series of sketched reflections by the treasured nineteenth century illustrator George Cruikshank, most famous for his illustration of the works of Dickens. The plates were etched quickly on glass plates, capturing much of the eccentric and erratic qualities of his illustration. This lavishly produced book is sure to please collectors of nineteenth-century popular artists and lovers of Dickens generally. A unique presentation copy inscribed to Australian publisher George Robertson by W.T. Spencer. Limited edition of 200 copies, of which 50 copies are hand-coloured, this being number 19 of the coloured issue. Octavo, publisher's quarter roan over brown cloth, gilt spine lettering, top-edge gilt and others uncut, a fine copy.
