Map of Jamaica
McCartney and Wood, Kingston, Jamaica 1883 - Beautiful map. Unusual because it was published in the Caribbean and the scale is quite large. Published in 1883, Jamaica was a Crown Colony at the time and the capital had moved to Kingston eleven years earlier. Overall foxing and toning. Map key includes information about counties and parishes, as well as elevations and principal places. Scarce. Case map. Color lithograph. Original cloth case with folding map, dissected on linen in 36 squares. Front of map reads, Compiled by J.J. Wood, a government inspector of schools. Image measures 21" x 37.5". 1883.
