Green pebble-grained cloth over boards, half-bound in black calf with six compartment spine, title stamped in gilt onto spine, headbands, marbled edges, 8vo (8-3/8 inches tall), bound from parts, pp. xiv, (xv-xvi - eratta leaf), 624, illustrated with 38 engraved steel plates plus engraved tissue-guarded frontis and vignette half-title page. Volume rubbed with edge wear exposing board edges in places, tape reinforced hinges, old tape repair to gutter of one plate with marginal loss to fore-edge - not affecting image, armorial book plate of Edgar F. Bartley to front pastedown, date at foot of title page so faint as to be virtually nonexistent, light scattered foxing and a tiny chip from ffep at fore-edge. With the 10 point correction, 14 line, eratta page and "£100" on the reward bill affixed to signpost on the extra engraved title. "There is no priority assigned to copies with English pound sign after '100' in reward notice on engraved title page." Ahearn, p. 222. Eckel has the first edition also with "...; errata, one page, fourteen lines, reverse blank;...". Eckel, p.71.
