Biographical notices of men of learning and genius; among whom are George Earl Marischal, founder of Peterhead, and Marischal College, Aberdeen. With a number of curious articles hitherto unpublished. With plates engraved by the author / By P. Buchan, author of the Recreation of leisure hours, &c.." Folding engraved frontispiece view + 4 engraved plates, deckled edges; original boards. Expertly and sympathetically rebacked, corners consolidated, one gathering sprung loose, 2 near invisible paper repairs (one to lower corner of title-page, the other to fore-edge of rear free endpaper, minor offsetting, occasional light foxing. Overall, a very good copy. Contains a chapter, with one plate, on the Greenland Whale Fishing. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good. Octavo.
