Pepe Fernández attended Ernesto Guevara in the 40s and became friends with Silvina Ocampo, Adolfo Bioy Casares, Jorge Luis Borges, Italo Calvino, Aragon. Particularly famous for his portraits of Borges, it will also be the photographer of many artists such as Pablo Neruda, Mikis Theodorakis, Astor Piazzolla, and actors like Paul Newman, Patrick Dewaere, Julie Christie ... He meets Italo Calvino in Paris in 1964 and immediately became one of his close friends and his "official portrait". His photographs illustrate several editions of the great Italian novelist.
