FACETIAE FACETIARUM, hoc est, Joco-Seriorum Fasciculus, Exhibens Varia Variorum Auctorum Scripta, non tam lectu iucunda & iocosa, amoena & amanda, quam lectu vere digna & utilia [etc.].
First Edition of this collection of humorous texts based primarily on smut and drink. Binding posterior mid nineteenth half glazed calf burgundy (back thinned) to nerves and gilt and cold. The book contains 12 texts by different authors whose titles are significant enough by their irreverent characters (you will notice several Disputatio but on cucurbits or right to joke). The text is written in Latin and not in the vernacular, which makes a violent satire against the learned and the church, which does not deceive when it placed the book in its index of prohibited books. Mattheus Delio de arte Jocandi, Nicodemi Frischlini in ebrietatem elegia De Peditu, eiusque Speciebus De Iure Potandi disputatio De Lustitudine Studentica De Cucurbitatione disputatio feudalis, Bonus Mulier sive of mulieribus De Osculis Iucunda dissertatio, De Natura Iure & Pennalium disputation, Obsopoeus Vincent de arte bibendi De Virginibus Inaugural Theses, floja cortum Versicale.
