Inscribed by Sanders: "For Paul with highest regards - Ed. Mar '74." The recipient, Paul Fitzgerald, was the well-respected and pugnacious head attorney for Charles Manson and the members of "The Family" during the sensational trial in 1970 for the grisly Tate-LaBianca murders. Sanders wrote the definitive book on the cult of Manson and his followers, The Family, the complete and authoritative account of the career of Manson. He also dedicated the Japanese edition of The Family to Fitzgerald. .
