A Monographic revision and synopsis of the Trichoptera of the European Fauna.
London, John van Voorst/ Berlin, Friedländer, 1874-1880. Royal-8vo. pp. iv, 523, ciii, with 59 plates. Contemporary half calf, gilt spine. The present publication is considered McLachlan's greatest work. It was published in 9 parts and as the edition was small the work is very scarce. McLachlan (1837-1904) was the first editor of the 'Entomologists' Monthly Magazine' and the leading English neuropterist. He inherited sufficient means to devote all his time to the study of entomology. The 59 plates contain about 2000 figures, and the work describes 474 species.//An additional supplement was published in 1884, which is not included.//Essig. A History of Entomology, p. 707; B.M.(Nat. Hist.)III, 1212.
