Two works bound in one volume in 8vo; (4), 171, (1) pp.; 235 (misnumbered 135), (1) errata pp.; contemp. half calf, spine gilt in compartments, contrasting gilt lettering-piece, spine at bottom with smal repair, front fly-leaf with traces of humidity, a few leaves with pencil marks in outer margin, last leaves of part 2 with traces of humidity in upper and lower margin, else clean. Both works are in first and only edition. R. de Saussure writes about public loans, taxes, commerce, and about fortunes based an precious metal and paper money. He proposes that interest on public loans should be financed by a luxury tax. Poterat's work is a reply to R. de Saussure.
