Paul Brown Calendar 1945. Signed, Limited, Numbered 290 of 1000 Copies
Brooks Brothers 1945 - Exceedingly rare art calendar published by Brooks Brothers. Signed by Paul Brown. Number 290 of 1000 copies. All art is in black and white painted drawings without captions but each is signed by Brown (part of each print, not individually done as the limitation page is. This is an easel style item with five red plastic rings at top and red ribbon ties at bottom frayed and discolored but uneven & present, All twelve months present, occasional light marginal soil, mostly very clean and tidy. Jan & Feb detached & laid in, others ok. A fragile item and is better enjoyed laying flat than standing up as that is how Jan & Feb came loose. Paper is brittle and fragile in the red plastic bands. Remains more than suitable for gift giving or your own special spot in the sporting library. Moderately bowed cover has a jolly hefty man holding a long horn in one hand and a tankard in the other. Jan features a sleighing scene with a single horse trotting along at a good clip pulling two folks in an open sleigh. Feb is an ice hockey scene. In March we enjoy the spring steeplechases as several athletes take a brush jump. April is a gentleman enjoying some fishing. May is flat racing with a pack of thoroughbreds coming round a bend near the rail. June is a couple of chaps playing doubles tennis, one is leaping for the hit. July is a great golf scene as two chaps look to the left and if you aren't careful, you'll miss the guy who is up to his neck in a brook trying to fish out his ball behind them. August shows a western scene as a cowhand attempts to break a youngster who is on his rear legs, September is football time as a player goes airborne over a pile of teammates as the ref runs over to get a closer look at the results. October is Cub (fox) Hunting Scene as a rider on a dark horse takes a stiff 5 panel coupe with a rider on the top. November is bird hunting month as three chaps watch some winged prospects overhead in V formation heading south. December is a frisky four-in-hand pulling a stagecoach down main street with the near grey having a rollicking time on his hind legs. Brooks Brothers currently sells a set of four of four Paul Brown limited edition framed prints for $500. You can have a dozen here. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Hard Cover]
