Bound in recent half leather with cloth coverings andgilt lettering. Featuring10 plates, collated complete. With marbled endpapers. The English iron and steel manufacturer Sir Isaac Lowthian Bell (1816-1904) is recognised asa father of the North Eastern iron industry and a world authority on blast furnaces. He was committed to technology, management, and labour relations, and hoped to improve the scientific base of British industry. His principal writings combine technical knowledge with international comparative surveys. Hewon a number of awards and was the first recipient of the Bessemer gold medal. (DNB). Condition: The binding is tight and firm. There is very little wear to the extremities. Internally the pages are generally bright and clean, with just slight browning to the page edges and the odd spot. To the half title, there is an ink signature and an offset inscription from the removed front blank. Overall the condition is fine..
