The Wind in the Willows
London: Methuen & Co. Ltd 1931. 312 pp. Profusely illustrated throughout with Shepard's marvellously scratchy funny-tender illustrations. Bound in a contemporary full black morocco, with gilt lettering lines and devices. The original gilt decorated green front board illustrating Mole Ratty and Toad is bound at the rear, and the front panel from the original dustjacket is bound at the front. Maps as front and rear endpapers. Internally nice and clean. Some rubbing to edges, but an attractive copy, unusual in a contemporary binding, and especially with the portion of the original jacket . Very Good. Full Morocco. First Ernest Shepard Edition. 1931. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
