Book is in good condition marked only by previous owner's inscription. Dust jacket is in fair condition with some wear, tears, and chipping. 50mm by 20mm section at head of spine missing. Dust jacket condition preserved in new clear plastic non-adhesive protective covering. Dust jacket illustration by Dorothy Burroughes. Dorothy Burroughes (also known by the name Dorothy Mary L Burroughes), died 1963. Designed posters for the Underground Group 1920-1922 Educated; The Slade School of Fine Art; Educated; Heatherley's School of Fine Art ; Educated; Germany;Biography:Dorothy Burroughes was an illustrator, designer and linocut artist. She contributed to a number of magazines including The Bystander and Illustrated London News. She became well known for her illustrations of animals, which appeared in numerous books in the 1920s and 1930s. In December 1934, an exhibition of her watercolours depicting birds, animals and flowers was organised by the Fine Art Society.
