THE THEORY OF MUSICAL COMPOSITION
Messrs. Robert Cocks and Co, London 1851 - Believed UK First. Dimensions: 25cm x 15.5cm approx. Please note that this is volume I only of what was probably a II volume set. An extremely rare and interesting volume on Musical Composition translated from the third, enlarged and improved German Edition with notes by James F. Warner, edited, with additions drawn from the German original by John Bishop. This particular copy has an interesting provenance in that the second free endpaper is inscribed "Anne Georgina Knox. The gift of Lord Belfast, 1852." The third free endpaper is signed "???? A. Knox from Belfast". The front paste down has an armorial bookplate in the name of William Dunville above which is hand-written "Anne G. Dunville as A. G. Knox". 415 pages. Normal library markings. A fair bit of wear/rubbing/fading/marking to covers. Spine slightly cracked at title page. Internal pages good with some yellowing and some very minor foxing. Binding tight.
