The Principles of Christian Practice. Containing the Institution of a Christian man, in Twelve Heads of Doctrine: Which are Set downe in the next Side
London: R. Y. for J. Bartlet, in Cheap-side at the Golden-cup in Goldsmiths Row. 1635. 24mo (14 cm tall). F First Edition. H Hard Cover. Fair. First edition [1635]. Important work by this Puritan divine, staunch anti- Papist and Christian scholar. Full sheep binding appropriate to the book's age, with blind ruling along the spine and outer edges of the covers, all edges tinted red, (20), 376, 349-607, (1) pages, missing the final blank and both free endpapers. Half-title is printed with the word Catalogue and may not be original to the book, most likely put into place when repairs were made to the front hinge, which is reinforced with two short lengths of thick wove paper or very thin vellum. Covers edgeworn and scuffed with a pulled and chipped spine foot, sound text block with stitching just barely visible between a few gatherings, top 25% of page 359/360 torn away, very, very minor worming to the top corners of pages 87 through 145, not affecting text, faint and minor dampstains to rear pastedown and final few leaves, title page lightly browned, some occasional minimal foxing.
