Stable Money: A History of the Movement
New York: Adelphi Company 1934, 1st Edition. () xxiii, 442pp. Very good in good dust jacket. Octavo. Original dark blue cloth boards. Oxidized gilt on spine. Abraison marks on front free endpaper, consistent with removal of a bookplate or sticker, otherwise textblock is clean. Chipping along head and tail of back dustjacket. Front is missing 5.1cm X 2.3cm at top left joint. Head of spine missing 3.3cm X 3.8cm. Dustjacket is price clipped. This is Fisher's fourth last work. He dedicated the book to President Roosevelt, which is often misconstrued to mean that he was a supporter of the New Deal. Actually, Fisher was against the New Deal, and meant the dedication as acknowledgement of Roosevelt's contribution to the concept of a stable dollar. He hoped that Roosevelt would pay more attention to the monetary system. Fisher founded the Stable Money League, later known as the Stable Money Association, in May of 1921 with the aim to make promotional material in favor of a compensated dollar. Extremely scarce in a dustjacket!.
