View from the south side of King George's Sound, from Flinders' Voyage
London:: G. & W. Nicol,. 1814.. First edition. The only West Australian view to appear in Matthew Flinders' "A Voyage to Terra Australis". The view shows two aborigines at a fire in the foreground; with the female wrapped in a blanket, and the male kneeling at the fire. The panorama of the Albany harbor spreads out behind them. Copper engraved print, image size 23 x 16 cm on paper 29.2 x 22.5 cm, excellent condition. Flinders was the first to circumnavigate Australia and he is credited as giving Australia its name. His narrative has become scarce and the prints are rarely seen separately.
