Also specimen sheets, type samples, promotional material, and keepsakes from type houses providing typefaces designed by Goudy. There is a check on the American Trust Company made out to Frederic W. Goudy, and endorsed by him on the back. Also included is a collection of newspaper and magazine clippings relating to Goudy.& & FROM FINE PRINTERS:& Frederic W. Goudy, American Typographer, by Paul Johnston. 8vo. 6-3/8 9-1/2 inches. 8 pp. Paul Johnston (1899-1987) was an American printer and book designer active from the 1920s. This article is apparently an offprint from his book of the same title (1930); there is no date or publisher listed.& Prospectus for: A Bibliography of The Village Press, by Melbert B. Cary, Jr. To be privately printed by The Press of the Woolly Whale, New York, 1938. Single sheet folded once to make a 4-pp. booklet. 6-2/8 x 9-1/8 inches (folded dimensions). The Village Press was Goudy's first press, founded in Park Ridge, Illinois in 1903. Includes sample pages from proposed book. Order form laid in. & Broadside: The Type Speaks by Frederic W. Goudy. 6-5/16 x 8-1/4 inches. No publisher, no date. Probably issued by the Lansten Monotype Machine Company in Philadelphia in 1938.
